Product Empties #2

Welcome Beauty Bargain Hunters!

My empties bag has been so full lately!  I feel like I have been going through products really quickly!  But that's good for me because I feel like I'm getting my money's worth out of my purchases and good for all of you because I can now give an accurate review of all of them!  My favorite videos to watch on You Tube and blog posts to read are empty reviews.  I feel like sometimes you can use a product a for a week or two and give it a great or bad review, but them as you continue to use it, your opinion can change.  So I feel the most accurate time to review something is after you have used a whole container/bottle/tube of it.  Here's what I think of these products:

Jason Restorative Biotin Shampoo- Since giving birth to my daughter, I have has some severe hair loss (I have talked with my doctor and she assured it is normal and will stop in time).  The doctor recommended I take biotin supplements and use hair care products with biotin.  So I researched online and this was one of the few with biotin that I could purchase in the store.  I got this at Wegmans (a local grocery store).  It did cost more than I normally spend of shampoo, but I made an exception because of this issue.  I did like this one, it smells like baby powder and it lathered well.  But I didn’t notice a difference in my hair growth or loss, so I probably won’t repurchase. Click here for my to go shampoo since high school.

Rimmel Just Let It Go Eye MakeupRemover- This quickly became one of my favorite eye makeup removers!  I got this in an Influenster box over the holiday season and I loved it.  Most eye makeup removers leave an oily residue on the skin and I HATE that.  So anytime I find one without oil that removes your make up I get super excited.  This felt like you were just putting cool water on your eyes, but it removed all the eye makeup. No irritation or oily feeling.  I’m looking for sales and coupons to buy more now- obviously, I highly recommend!

Clean and Clear Advantage Mark Treatment- I got this acne medication because it claimed that it would help with the acne and then also help to make sure there was not a scare left on the skin afterwards.  I did not feel like this worked. It did not help clear up acne and I did not feel like it helped with scaring either.  I only used about half of this and then it expired, so I’m just pitching the rest of it.  Click here to see the acne treatment I have been using lately and loving!

The Body Shop Body Butter Duo Macadamia Scent- I think I have mentioned this product before.  I bought a bunch of these at TJ Maxx and Marshalls because they were on sale for $3 or $4 each last year. One side is a very thick body butter and the other side is a thinner lotion.  In the winter I usually use this on my legs, I use the thick side on my dry patches and then I use the lotion side on all over the legs.  I really love this in the winter and I would recommend it, especially if you can pick it up at TJ Maxx or Marshalls, but I only use it in the winter because I don’t need such a thick butter in the summer.  Also, the Macadamia scent is my favorite from the line!

Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray- I got this little mini as a free gift when purchasing the large size.  I really love this spray.  It keeps my makeup in place all day, doesn’t irritate my skin and it doesn’t feel heavy or stiff.  Skindinavia has sales often (sign up for the e-mail list to know when they are) but I also found a drug store one I like recently (click here to see what it is) so I’m not sure if I’ll be repurchasing this one again- depends on price, because I do like them both!

Sebastian Shaper Plus Extra Hold Hairspray- I believe I got a coupon for this by e-mail from Ulta with a really good discount (I think I only paid $5 or $6 for it).  I was excited because I know this is a more high end line and I really had high hopes for the hair spray.  But unfortunately it did not live up to the name.  It was a good hair spray if you want light/possibly medium hold but it's definitely not extra hold (click here to see my favorite extra firm hold hair spray).  So I would not repurchase because I can get a hairspray like this from the drug store for a lot less.

Too Face Lip Insurance Primer- I LOVE this lip primer for winter.  All winter long I have problems with my lips cracking, peeling and feathering.  I have worn tons of different night balms, chap sticks, masks, etc. and I exfoliate often and keep my lips moisturized throughout the day, but by late afternoon in the winter they always begin to feather.  But when I put this primer on in the morning before my chap stick and/or lipstick, they do not peel or crack all day!  It’s basically like a light-weight glue for your lips.  And it does look like a glue on your lips, so I would not recommend wearing it on its own, and it can dry out your lips when you first put it on, so I always follow with a chap stick and/or a moisturizing lip stick.  But if you keep those two things in mind and if you have issues with chapping, you will love this.

Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream- I had mixed feelings about this facial scrub.  It seems like all the sandy exfoliating particles were in the top of the bottle, so at the beginning of the tube there was barely any exfoliation and I hated it.  But then at the end when there were a lot of sandy particles mixed with the creamy face wash, I did really like it.  But I don’t think I will repurchase because I want to use products that I love 100% of the bottle, not just 50%.

Bath & Body Works Eucalyptus Spearmint Body Wash- I got this free in the B&BW Black Friday goodie bag from last year.  It had the normal feel and texture of a B&BW body wash.  I like it, but I would not pay full price for it compared to drug store prices (but I would pick it up during their clearance events!)  But I did really like the smell of this one.  It reminds me a little bit of a male cologne, but not too masculine to the point where it would be odd for a women to wear.  So if you like wearing your significant other’s cologne sometimes, you would love this scent!
NYC Blushable Crème Stick in Gold Radiance- The name says blush, but this is actually a highlighter.  I did not finish this product, but I am throwing it out.  I really, really tried to like and wear this product, but I just couldn’t.  First off, I’m not big on stick crème products.  I find them really hard to apply. You don’t want to put it right on your skin because it’s less sanitary and it could move your foundation that you just applied.  I also tried multiple kinds of brushes and my beauty blender and I just did not like to look of it.  I think it’s a little easier with blushes, but highlighters you want to be subtle so it’s harder to apply just right. And secondly, this one just has too much glitter for me.  I like to have a nice glow from my highlighter, but this one has obvious gold glitter in it, which is just not my style.

That's it for this time!  But stay tuned because my empties bag still has a lot of products in it!  Let me know if you tried any of these felt the same or different than me about them!  I always love hearing what others think about them!

CVS Haul

Hello Beauty Bargain Hunters!

It's been a while since I did a CVS Haul!  But I could not resist since so many new make up products have been coming out and CVS sent me $10 in free Extra Care Bucks (I recently got a prescription through CVS pharmacy and they sent me an e-mail saying that if I signed up for their online prescription system they would give me $10 ECB).

I know this blog is centered beauty products, but I got other items with their haul and I thought I would include everything I got just so you could see what a good deal I got on everything!  If I had paid retail price for all these items, no sales or coupons, it would have cost $114.95 but with all my sales and coupons I only paid $31.28 (plus tax).

Here's a break down of everything.  I did three transactions:

I had a 25% off total purchase coupon I got in the mail (does not work on sale items)
MUA Blush Brush (retails $16)- 25% off (sale) plus $2 off store coupon: $10
Almay Triple Effect Mascara (retails $9.49)- 25% off plus $3 off manufacturer coupon & $3 off store coupon: $1.12
CoverGirl Stay Luminous Foundation (retails for $12.49)- 25% off plus $1.00 manufacturer coupon: $8.37
Plus I had $5 off $15 of beauty products coupon (prints at coupon kiosk) & $10 off for ECB for CVS prescription

2 Ziploc Bags (retails $9.18)- sale for 2 for $5.50 plus $1 manufacturer coupon (printed from & $3 ECB back: $1.50 for both
3 Pampers Cruisers Diapers (28 count) (retails for $35.97)- sale for $9.99 each plus $5.50 in manufacturer coupons (printed off & $10 ECB back: $14.47 for 3
1 CVS Baby Wipes (retails $3.29)- sale for $1.99

Honey Nut Cheerios (retails $4.59)- on sale plus $.60 store coupon (prints at coupon kiosk) and $.75 manufacturer coupon (printed off $1.13
Wet N Wild Eyeliner Pencil- $.99 (not on sale, just need to buy one more thing to use my store coupon)
Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer (retails $6.50)- on sale BOGO 50% off plus $1 manufacturer coupon: $2.24
Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation (retails $8.49)- part of BOGO 50% sale, $1 manufacturer coupon: $7.49
4 Starbucks Iced Coffees (retails $3.96)- BOGO plus 2 $1 off manufacturer coupons: $1.98 for 4
Plus I had another $5 off $15 of beauty products coupon (prints at coupon kiosk)- I have 2 ECB cards
TOTAL WAS $8.83 (but I did not have to pay money because I used ECB from last transaction)

TOTAL FOR ALL: $31.28 (plus tax)!!

So as you can see this was a great haul!  I got a bunch of the new make up items I really wanted to try plus some great things my family needs!  These sales are going on all week so be sure to check some of them out this week.  I know everyone won't have the one $10 ECB I did but most of the sales and coupons that I used can be printed online by anyone so even if you can't get all the same deals, you should still be able to get a lot of them!

The Face Product Season Switch

Hello Beauty Bargain Hunters!

I know a lot of people who switch out their clothes for each season, but I think you have to be a real make up lover (junkie) to switch out your face products for each season.  I don't just mean switching colors of foundation because you have a tan, I mean the shades of blushes, highlighters and bronzers.  I have a large collection of these products and I really think switching the colors each season helps me use all of them more often.

Here's the winter products that I put away for the spring/summer:

In the winter I prefer more plum or darker shade blushes.  But these are not my favorite shades, so it's the type I have the least of.  I'm not going to list out each blush (especially since some are discontinued).  Here are some of my favorites:

Laura Geller Baked Impression Blush in Mauve Mocha Latte
Maybelline Master Hi-Light Blush in Mauve
Revlon Powder Blush in Naughty Nude
Milani Baked Powder Blush in Rose D'Oro
Bobbi Brown Blush in Tawny

As you can tell, I prefer brighter, pinkish blushes which I prefer to wear in the spring and summertime.  I also wear more sparkly and tan highlighters when my skin is tanner (I self tan often in the summer).  Here are some of my favorite:

Hard Candy So Baked Bronzer  in Tiki (I wear it as a highlighter)
Physicians Formula Mineral Glow Pearls in Translucent
Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush in Peach Beach
Laura Geller Baked Blush in Bora Bora
ELF Cosmetics Studio Blush in Tickled Pink
ELF Cosmetics Studio Baked Highlighter   in every shade they have!

There are some face products that I love so much that I don't care what season it is, I want to wear it all year long.  Here are some of those:

ELF Cosmetics Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder
ELF Cosmetics Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Cream
Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips in Natural
ELF Cosmetics Studio Blush in Candid Coral
Nars Blush in Orgasm and Deep Throat
Maybelline Master Hi-Light Blush in Nude and Light Bronze
Benefit Rockateur Box Blush (favorite blush of all time!)

That is basically all my face products!  I know this is a lot for one person, but as I say all the time, I got everything with coupons, sales and discounts and I do try to go through my collection and give away things often.  If you want to know the name of any products here that I did not mention the name of, let me know and I'd be happy to let you know!

Also, if anyone is loving a blush this summer that I don't have, let me know!

My May Favorites

Welcome Beauty Bargain Hunters!

It's been a busy month with family weddings and family pictures taken, I have been trying lots of new products and finding new lots of new favorites, some that I think will quickly become holy grail products for me.  Here's what I have been loving this month!

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara- Gives tons of length and a good amount of volume too.  I believe I got this when Ulta had their 40% off sale and I had a coupon also.

SmashBox Photo Finish Pore Minimizing Primer- Really goes fill in your pores well and helps keep makeup in place.  I got this when recently had their 20% off their website sale.

L'Oreal Infallible Makeup Extending Setting Spray- So excited that there is finally a drug store option for this product!  Got this at CVS with sales and coupons.  This spray is light weight and does help keep makeup in place all day.

Biore Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser- I believe I got this on clearance at CVS with a coupon.  This applies really smooth and it only take two pumps to take all my make up off.

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream- I have this in the shade Fair (this runs on the dark side, so if you are usually in between shades, get the lighter one).  One of my favorite CC creams ever, it's full coverage, applies just like normal make up.  SPF 50 will be great for summer.

L'Oreal Infalliable Pro-Matte Foundation- Got this at CVS with sales and coupons.  Full coverage foundation, keeps me matte all day (doesn't make my chin oily).

NYX Angel Veil Primer- Got this at Imats last year.  Wish it did not take me so long to try this!  Love, love this primer, glides on smoothly and leaves a silkly, smooth base for my foundation and it's light weight.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer-  I loved the foundation and everyone said the concealer was amazing, so I got it for 20% off with the sale.  I got this in the shade Fair, which is very light, but it's great for highlighting (I would compare it to this one, that's my holy grail concealer).

Laura Mercier Highlight #1- I think this is the only highlighter I wore this month.  My friend Dani recommend this to me and I'm so glad she did because it's the best highlighter ever.  And it's perfect for ladies who work in an office, because it gives your a beautiful glow, without for your co-workers thinking you are going to the club after work (hehe).  I got this for 15% off during the Sephora sale.

The Balm Hot Mama Blush- One of my favorite summer blushes.  Give you a perfect peachy color with a summer glow.  I believe I got it off Haute Look last year.

It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Powder- First powder I ever used that I believe actually is full coverage.  I love using this when I'm running errands on the weekend with the baby and I don't have time/effort to do my full makeup.  I got it for a deep discount on a IG sale.

Too Face Chocolate Soleil Bronzer- Even being very fair skinned, this is my favorite bronzer ever.  I love it all year long, but being summer now I have been using it more and I decided to throw it in my favorites again.  I think I got this during a Sephora sale last year.

Makeup Forever Crème Blush in 220- Another recommendation from my friend Dani.  I'm not a huge cream blush fan, but I love this one, beautiful color and easy to blend.  Got it during Sephora's recent 15% off sale.

Also, lipsticks I loved this month (not pictured) are The Balm in the shade Mai Billsbepaid and Stila Color Balm Lipstick in Olivia. Both "my lips but better" nudish shades that are perfect for work.

That's everything, please let me know if you want more in depth reviews on anything!  And let me know what products you guys loved this month, I love recommendations!  Hope everyone had a great May, hope June is great too!
