Welcome Beauty Bargain Hunters!
My empties bag has been so full lately! I feel like I have been going through products really quickly! But that's good for me because I feel like I'm getting my money's worth out of my purchases and good for all of you because I can now give an accurate review of all of them! My favorite videos to watch on You Tube and blog posts to read are empty reviews. I feel like sometimes you can use a product a for a week or two and give it a great or bad review, but them as you continue to use it, your opinion can change. So I feel the most accurate time to review something is after you have used a whole container/bottle/tube of it. Here's what I think of these products:
Jason Restorative Biotin Shampoo- Since giving birth to my daughter, I have has some severe hair loss (I have talked with my doctor and she assured it is normal and will stop in time). The doctor recommended I take biotin supplements and use hair care products with biotin. So I researched online and this was one of the few with biotin that I could purchase in the store. I got this at Wegmans (a local grocery store). It did cost more than I normally spend of shampoo, but I made an exception because of this issue. I did like this one, it smells like baby powder and it lathered well. But I didn’t notice a difference in my hair growth or loss, so I probably won’t repurchase. Rimmel Just Let It Go Eye MakeupRemover- This quickly became one of my favorite eye makeup removers! I got this in an Influenster box over the holiday season and I loved it. Most eye makeup removers leave an oily residue on the skin and I HATE that. So anytime I find one without oil that removes your make up I get super excited. This felt like you were just putting cool water on your eyes, but it removed all the eye makeup. No irritation or oily feeling. I’m looking for sales and coupons to buy more now- obviously, I highly recommend!
Clean and Clear Advantage Mark Treatment- I got this acne medication because it claimed that it would help with the acne and then also help to make sure there was not a scare left on the skin afterwards. I did not feel like this worked. It did not help clear up acne and I did not feel like it helped with scaring either. I only used about half of this and then it expired, so I’m just pitching the rest of it. Click here to see the acne treatment I have been using lately and loving!
The Body Shop Body Butter Duo Macadamia Scent- I think I have mentioned this product before. I bought a bunch of these at TJ Maxx and Marshalls because they were on sale for $3 or $4 each last year. One side is a very thick body butter and the other side is a thinner lotion. In the winter I usually use this on my legs, I use the thick side on my dry patches and then I use the lotion side on all over the legs. I really love this in the winter and I would recommend it, especially if you can pick it up at TJ Maxx or Marshalls, but I only use it in the winter because I don’t need such a thick butter in the summer. Also, the Macadamia scent is my favorite from the line!
Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray- I got this little mini as a free gift when purchasing the large size. I really love this spray. It keeps my makeup in place all day, doesn’t irritate my skin and it doesn’t feel heavy or stiff. Skindinavia has sales often (sign up for the e-mail list to know when they are) but I also found a drug store one I like recently (click here to see what it is) so I’m not sure if I’ll be repurchasing this one again- depends on price, because I do like them both!
Sebastian Shaper Plus Extra Hold Hairspray- I believe I got a coupon for this by e-mail from Ulta with a really good discount (I think I only paid $5 or $6 for it). I was excited because I know this is a more high end line and I really had high hopes for the hair spray. But unfortunately it did not live up to the name. It was a good hair spray if you want light/possibly medium hold but it's definitely not extra hold (click here to see my favorite extra firm hold hair spray). So I would not repurchase because I can get a hairspray like this from the drug store for a lot less.
Too Face Lip Insurance Primer- I LOVE this lip primer for winter. All winter long I have problems with my lips cracking, peeling and feathering. I have worn tons of different night balms, chap sticks, masks, etc. and I exfoliate often and keep my lips moisturized throughout the day, but by late afternoon in the winter they always begin to feather. But when I put this primer on in the morning before my chap stick and/or lipstick, they do not peel or crack all day! It’s basically like a light-weight glue for your lips. And it does look like a glue on your lips, so I would not recommend wearing it on its own, and it can dry out your lips when you first put it on, so I always follow with a chap stick and/or a moisturizing lip stick. But if you keep those two things in mind and if you have issues with chapping, you will love this.
Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream- I had mixed feelings about this facial scrub. It seems like all the sandy exfoliating particles were in the top of the bottle, so at the beginning of the tube there was barely any exfoliation and I hated it. But then at the end when there were a lot of sandy particles mixed with the creamy face wash, I did really like it. But I don’t think I will repurchase because I want to use products that I love 100% of the bottle, not just 50%.
Bath & Body Works Eucalyptus Spearmint Body Wash- I got this free in the B&BW Black Friday goodie bag from last year. It had the normal feel and texture of a B&BW body wash. I like it, but I would not pay full price for it compared to drug store prices (but I would pick it up during their clearance events!) But I did really like the smell of this one. It reminds me a little bit of a male cologne, but not too masculine to the point where it would be odd for a women to wear. So if you like wearing your significant other’s cologne sometimes, you would love this scent!NYC Blushable Crème Stick in Gold Radiance- The name says blush, but this is actually a highlighter. I did not finish this product, but I am throwing it out. I really, really tried to like and wear this product, but I just couldn’t. First off, I’m not big on stick crème products. I find them really hard to apply. You don’t want to put it right on your skin because it’s less sanitary and it could move your foundation that you just applied. I also tried multiple kinds of brushes and my beauty blender and I just did not like to look of it. I think it’s a little easier with blushes, but highlighters you want to be subtle so it’s harder to apply just right. And secondly, this one just has too much glitter for me. I like to have a nice glow from my highlighter, but this one has obvious gold glitter in it, which is just not my style.
That's it for this time! But stay tuned because my empties bag still has a lot of products in it! Let me know if you tried any of these felt the same or different than me about them! I always love hearing what others think about them!
Happy Savings Everyone!
