Ulta 21 Days of Beauty Haul

Welcome Beauty Bargain Hunters!

As you probably know Ulta just had their 21 Days of Beauty Sale!  For 21 Days they offered amazing deals on 2-3 high end items!  The discounts on these products were pretty significant, most 50% off, but at least 25-35% off.  It can be hard to keep up with these sales if you are are not a Platinum member because they would be during the work week and you could only get one or two deals for day!  But if you are a Platinum Member, the Deals of the Day shipped for free, no purchase minimum!  About half way through the sale I became a Platinum Member so it was much easier for me to get the deals the second half of the deals than the first half!  Just to show exactly how much you can save with this sale, I thought I would calculate exactly how much I saved buying these products during the sale!  Here's my calculations:

September 6th:
BAREMINERALS Prime Time Foundation Primers- 50% off  \  Now $12
SAVED $12.00

September 13th:
TARTE Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-In-1 Mascara- 50% off  \  Now $10.50
SAVED $10.50

September 15th:
IT COSMETICS Eyelift In A Tube50% OFF  \  Now $14.50
SAVED $14.50

DERMABLEND Smooth Liquid Camo Foundation- 35% off  \  Now $22.75 (ONLINE ONLY)
SAVED $12.75

September 22nd:
AMAZING COSMETICS Anti-Aging Primer Travel Size-Now $10 (Reg $18)
SAVED $8.00

September 23rd:
CK ONE COLOR Brow Pencil & Gel Duo- 50% off  \  Now $11
SAVED $11.00
September 24th:
STILA Convertible Color- Now $12  \  (Reg $25)
SAVED $13.00

SPENT: $92.75

I saved so much by shopping during this sale- almost 50% off!  It is rare to get 50% off high end make up products unless they are on clearance because they are being discontinued!  This sale comes out twice a year, so I would highly recommend taking advantage of it when it does.  It's also a great time to try new products because you can return if you do not like them (it can be harder to return things if you buy them directly from the company's website).  I always post a detailed list with links for every sale so stay tuned for the next one!

What products did you get from the sale and what do you think of them so far?  Let me know by commenting below or letting me know on social media, I love know what I should try next!

My Fall Essentials

Welcome Beauty Bargain Hunters!

I'm not sure about where you live, but here is PA, fall seemed to just come overnight here!  About a week or so ago it just went from super hot and sandals to a bit chilly and pumpkin spice everything!  I am a huge fan of fall (and pumpkin spice) so I am happy for the season change, but that also means some product changes too!  I don't completely switch out everything, but there are some products I own that are better in a certain season.  So I thought I would share some things I have started using a lot more lately and let you know:

Studio 35 Beauty Alpha Hydroxy Face Cream- I know it says this is a face cream, but I don't actually use this for my face!  I use this on the my arms.  I get those tiny little pimple-like bumps on my arms that I absolutely hate!  I've tried lots of things over the years to stop them and this cream has worked better than anything else!  It doesn't make them go away 100%, but it's a significant improvement!  I especially use this in the fall because when the temperature drops, my skin gets more dry and the bumps get a lot worse so I make sure to use this at least once (sometimes twice) a day!  If you get these bumps, I would highly recommend you trying this one!  This is sold exclusively at Walgreens (unless you want to pay double to Ebay or Amazon).

Real Techniques Complexion Sponge- This isn't so much a fall time product as just a product I have been using a lot lately.  I had two beauty blenders fall apart of on me recently (they lasted a long time, but I had to retire them) so I decided to pull this one out of the drawer and try it again and I have really been enjoying it.  It's a little softer than the beauty blender, but I think it's a really good alternative if you are trying to save.

Maybelline Color Tattoos in Bad to the Bronze and Matte Brown- I have recently gotten into wearing eye shadow again everyday and with fall, I love doing darker eye looks.  And I have been loving starting these darker looks with these eye bases.  They are really pigmented help keep my shadow in place and look great all day.  Also, I have heard some people say that these have dried out on them quickly but I have had these for close to a year and they still feel the same to me!

Maybelline Master HiLight Blush in Mauve/Laura Geller Blushes in Berry and Mocha/Jordana Blush in Tawny Beige- I do like to rotate some of colors of my blushes by the season (click here to see the post I did last spring).  In fall  I pull out the ones that are more plum/berry/mauve shades in fall/winter.  These are my favorites.

Soap & Glory Hand Food Hand Cream- Best hand cream of life!!!  The first time I bought this I thought I was crazy to spend so much on a hand cream when I could pick up a mini lotion for a dollar at any drug store but it's totally worth the price.  The scent is amazing and the lotion keeps your hand silky for a really long time.  Like I mentioned earlier, lower temperatures equals drier skin so this little guy really becomes my best friend!  And now that it's sold at Ulta instead of Sephora, it's cheaper plus there are sales and coupons!

Nivea Lip Products- In addition to drier skin, also comes drier lips!  Before applying lipstick I always use the Milk & Honey or Olive Oil & Lemon chap sticks and when I'm not wearing lipstick, I love applying their lip butters in the little tins.  I use these all year round, but in the winter I wear them 24/7 to keep my lips from drying out and cracking.

The Body Shop in Honey Bronzing Powder in Shade 02- As pale girls will understand, sometimes bronzers are not one shade fits all.  I have this bronzer in 2 shades one for spring/summer and a paler one for fall/winter.  This bronzer is perfect for me to do a slight contour or a bit on my forehead.

Maybelline Matte Lipstick in Nude Embrace- I was so excited to hear these lipsticks were coming out!  I have always loved the colors of Maybelline lipsticks but I felt they did not last long enough on the lips.  Usually when a lipstick is in a matte formula, it lasts longer on the lips and that is definitely the case with these!  I get the same great color pay off that Maybelline has always had but now it lasts longer without having to reapply.  So of course I bought every nude shade they had and so far this is the one I like the most!

Bath & Body Works Sensual Amber Eau De Toilette- I debated whether or not to include this one because I got this like two years ago and I don't know if B&BW even makes this scent anymore.  But since it's my favorite fall perfume I thought I would through it in!  In fall I like the deeper, more musky scents and this one really says fall to me.

That is all the beauty related items that are getting more love from me lately!  I hope you all have an amazing fall!  Make you go out see admire the changing leave and get some great hot pumpkin spice beverages since they are both only around for a short time!

Tips for Saving Money Online Shopping

Welcome Beauty Bargain Hunters!

Today I'm writing a post I should have written a long time ago!  I think this one will be really helpful for bargain hunters, whether it's for beauty items or really any items you plan to buy online.

I'm really big on shopping when I have deals and coupons.  You save money, and I love that (like most people do).  But sometimes there are items that you need and you don't have time to wait for a sale or you want it so bad that you don't want to wait for a coupon.  No matter how much planning or organizing you do, this will come up sometimes and you may have to pay full price for something (the horror!). But I do have some tips and tricks that I always do before I make an online purchase that I don't have a sale or coupon for.

-If you know what you want to buy, but you know multiple websites sell it, comparison shop before committing to a website.  Prices can vary depending on the store you buy it from, for example, websites like, and are often cheaper than manufacturer websites or other sites that sell the same products.  Doing a google search of the product should bring up most of the common websites you can buy an item on.

-Decide for sure if you really want the product to be brand new.  Depending on the item, you can get deep discounts on items if you buy them second a hand on websites like Ebay or the app, Poshmark.  Most people have heard of Ebay, but if you have not heard of Poshmark, here is a quick overview:  it's an app you can download to you phone that shows items that regular people are trying to sell, normally at discounted prices.  The site mainly sells handbags and clothing, but you can lots of other things on there (including makeup).  People post pictures of the item (so you can see the condition of the item), a description and a price. You can communicate with the sellers, ask questions and sometimes negotiate with the prices.  Shipping is a flat $5 and they do offer protection on every purchase so if you get something you don't like, you can return it and get your money back no hassle (I just had to do this myself the other day because I purchased a blouse and it was in a different size than the seller's description had said and it really was easy to return, they even paid the return shipping).  I have probably purchased about 10 to 15 items from Poshmark and I was happy with all but one that one item.  If you want try this app, put in the code PHIVH to get a credit of $5 off your first purchase.

Once you have committed to a store, there are many ways to find deals even if you don't see any advertised sales popping up.

- Go to Whenever anyone tells me that I'm going to get money for free, I normally roll my eyes and look for the fine print.  But I can say after using this site for many years, you do literally get money for nothing when you use this website.  All you have to do, is when you know what store you are going to online shop at, you enter the name of that store on and it will send you to a page that shows the percentage of a purchase they will give you back money for when you shop on that website PLUS it also shows you all the sales/coupon codes they know of that work on the site right now.  You just click on one of the "Shop Now" links on the page and it will take you to the website where you make your purchase.  Then once a quarter Ebates will either mail you a check to your home or deposit the money in your PayPal account.  That's literally all you have to do!  I have made over $300 off Ebates in the past couple years!  Here is a picture of the check they recently sent me in the mail.

-Go to Make sure you go to Ebates first to get your cash back, but if Ebates does not have any discount codes that are helpful for you purchase (their discounts codes are usually good, but sometimes they may be product specific), try this website.  They usually have the biggest selection of sales and discount codes to choose from.  A little warning, sometimes their coupon codes don't always work, they actually give you percentages with each code to show you how many people it was successful for.  And the best part of this site is that you don't have to sign up or be a member to use the site and get the discount, so no unwanted profiles to create and no extra spam e-mails!

-Google it If you try Ebates and Retailmenot and neither have a sale or coupon code that will help you with your online order, try searching for it on Google.  If you are trying to buy something at Express, just try in "Express coupon code" and see what pops up.  It can show you offers from other sites like, Groupon, etc.

-Sign Up for a Mailing List I know the last thing people want is more e-mails, but I say if it will save you some money, why not?  A lot of website will offer you a discount on an item or whole first purchase if you will sign up for their mailing list (a lot of them, more than you would probably think).  To find out if your site does it, check in the section usually at the top or bottom of the site that asks for your e-mail address, they will usually mention a deal you can get with entering it.  Ebates and Retailmenot may also let you know about the e-mail discount if you can't find it on the website.  Being on a store's mailing list can be a plus if it is a store you shop at often since they normally will let you know when there is a new sale or coupon right away.  And if the e-mails do annoy you (or tempt you) after a while, you can always unsubscribe to them at any time.

-Get Free Shipping Most websites will offer free shipping if you make a purchase over a certain amount of money.  They were will usually advertise the amount somewhere on the website, but if you can't find it, you can always check Ebates/RetailMeNot or sometimes it will be located on the website's Q & A section. Sometimes if I'm close to the limit I need for free shipping, I will pick up an extra item or two to get the free shipping, I know it sounds odd to spend money to save money, but I would rather spend the extra money on an actual good than just shipping alone!  Also some websites for companies that also have physical store locations (like Target and Walmart) are offering free pick up in store online shopping.  You would place your order online like normal but then the company would send you an e-mail when your item was at the store location you chose when ordering to pick it up at their customer service department.  And some websites have also started offering free shipping on all purchases, no matter how much you spend (some sites that first come to mind are , to VIB members, etc.).

-Free Gifts with Purchase- A lot of websites will offer free gifts with purchase for making an online purchase for spending a certain amount of money on a specific brand.  Even though you don't exactly save money with these samples, but samples are a good way of trying out new products and it's definitely worth thinking about when you are choosing a website to make your purchase from.

-Reselling/Donating I know this part is not actually part of the purchasing process, but I think it's important to mention when buying new things, that you be conscious of what you have.  If you are buying blush and discover it's exactly the same as one you already own.  If you notice in a month or two that you are not reaching for that first blush anymore, you can easily sell it on websites like Poshmark or EBay (as long as you have taken good care of the item and there is a lot of product left).  Or you can always give to a friend or family member in need.  Depending on the item (clothes, purses, etc) you can also donate them to Good Will or Women's shelters, it will make you feel great and it can be a tax deduction.

That is all the tips and tricks I think of when I place an online order.  If you follow me on Instagram and Twitter than you clearly see that I have a lot of experience online shopping! Haha  I'm always open to suggestions, so if you have any tricks you use to save online or in stores please leave me a comment below or on my social media!

Product Empties #4

Welcome Beauty Bargain Hunters!

My empties bin is still pretty full so it's time for another empties post!  In case you missed some other my other empties, here they are:  Empties #3  Empties #2  Empties #1

So here are the products I recently used up and what I thought of them:

Skyn Iceland Glacial Cleansing Cloths- I got these in a recent Ipsy bag and I was not a fan.  I heard a YouTuber I’m a fan of, MrsLolaLynn review them in an Empties video right before I used them and she was right completely right about them!  She said that she ended up using them just to wipe make up off her hands and sink and I did the same thing.  I just felt that they were too harsh on my skin to keep using.  They felt nice on my hands, but after I used them my face would feel kind of raw and I would have to put a thick moisturizer on.  They did take my makeup off well, but I still would not recommend them.
Lorac AquaPrime Make Up Primer- I got this off of HauteLook about two years ago.  I did not hear much about this (which should have been a red flag) but I bought it anyway because it was such a good deal and l love trying new primers.  But unfortunately I was not a fan of this one.  It literally did nothing.  I feel like the company took water thickened it a tiny bit and put it in a bottle.  I know it’s called Aqua prime, but it is 99% Aqua 1% prime.  When you pump it out and put it on your face, it feels and looks just like you put water on your face.  And I did not feel like it helped keep my make up in place or stay on longer.  I used it a lot when I first got it just because I spent money on it, but it’s been sitting untouched in my cabinet for over a year, so I finally decided to just trash it!

Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquer- When these first came out I feel like everyone went crazy for these and then after a month or two no one ever talked about them again.  Of course when everyone was raving about them, I had to go and get it in the nude shade (my favorite).  At first I loved it and wore it often, then it got pushed in the back of my lip collection and I didn’t wear it for months.  Well I pulled it back out a couple weeks ago and I do not like it the way I remember it.  I had to apply like 4 coats to get it to look nice and complete on my lips.  Then after a couple of hours, it would not wear well on my lips.  It would be patchy and actually look kind of frosted as it wore off (which I hate).  And if I wanted to put on a lip gloss to prevent this, I would have to wait for the lip lacquer to dry first, which could take 20 to 30 minutes and by then I would forget about it and the frosted lips would return.  Since I have soooo many lip products and this one just isn’t working for me, I thought it was best just to throw it out now.

Bath and Body Works Triple Moisture Body Cream in Dahlia Rush-  I love the fragrance of Dahlia Rush, it’s sexy and very sophisticated (very different for BBW which seems to focus more on light fruity, fun scents).  I think this is a perfect scent for the winter time!  I think I have mentioned before I am a big fan of BBW triple moisture cream, my only recommendation is just to use them in the colder months, when I try to use it in spring or summer, but doesn’t absorb in the skin as well and can come off easier.

Jason Restorative Biotin Conditioner- As I mentioned before, I had an issue with hair loss after my daughter was born and I used this conditioner with biotin to help with that.  I liked the scent of this conditioner (baby powder) but I did not see a huge difference in my hair loss or growth.  So I will not repurchase since this was more expensive then my normal hair care products.

Almay Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover Pads- These are my holy grail eye makeup remover pads.  They are moist, do not irritate my eyes and remove all my makeup.  I wear heavy eye makeup most days and this takes it all off.  It also did not leave an oily residue on my eyes like a lot of others do which I hate!  But I always make sure I get the ones in the purple bottle, I have tried other colors and did not like them at all.

Model Co. Blush in Cosmopolitan- I got this blush in an Ipsy bag recently and I was super excited to try a product in Model Co.  Unfortunately I was not in love with this one.  The color was nice, but not one I really gravitate towards.  But the real let down was that it did not blend out well.  I could not get it to look natural on my skin.  You either could not see it or it was really noticeable that was wearing blush.  Since I do have a lot of blushes I love, I thought I might as well pass this on to my mom instead of letting it sit around.

Cotton Clouds- I heard a YouTuber I subscribe to, ShadesofKassie, talk about these in an empties video so I decided to try them.  I got 3 packs off Amazon for a good price.  I use these for eye makeup remover and face toner and I have been loving them!  The name is perfect this one, it really feels like you are using a puffy cloud on your face.  Another perk to them is that you can pull them apart to make them whatever thickness you prefer so you get exactly what you like and it’s not wasteful.  They may seem pricey but they are not really that much more than Target or the drug store, you just have to buy them in a larger quantity at one time.  I would recommend them!

Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil- I liked this product, but I was expecting to love this product.  I have heard so much about Josie Maran skin and body care products with argan oil that I was expecting this to be amazing, and it was really just average to me.  I did not really care for the scent (it was in Lavender- I don’t remember where I got this product but I know I did not get to pick the scent).  And the lotion was just average.  It was just like my body creams from The Body Shop or Bath and Body Works.  It was good, but nothing stood out to me that would justify spending more for it.  So I probably will not repurchase since the other stores have sales all the time and this brand is pretty pricey.

Batiste Dry Shampoo- This is my holy grail dry shampoo.  I seriously have like 4 back up cans in my closet at all times.  When I was having hair loss it was recommended that I not wash my hair too often, so dry shampoo became my best friend.  With dark brown hair, their Dark and Deep Brown formula is perfect for me.  No white residue (that I get with basically every other dry shampoo), keeps my hair feeling clean and it give my hair some body (I has been known to put it on my clean hair, just get some extra volume).  Highly recommend to anyone with brown or black hair.

That is all the products I used up recently!  If you have tried these and have a different opinion or advice on anything else I should try next, please let me know by commenting here or on Instagram or Twitter!

Spin For Perfect Skin Cleansing Brush Review

Welcome Beauty Bargain Hunters!

If you watch You Tube videos or read beauty blogs, I'm sure you have heard of a certain facial cleansing brush many times before.  A lot of people say that it's amazing for your skin and they use it religiously and it's the greatest thing ever.  I was tempted many times to buy it, but I never did for a few reasons.  For the main reason, it's at least $150 and for me that is a high price tag!  If I had a serious acne problem, then it might be worth it, but since I don't it did not seem worth that price for me.

But recently I was contacted to try cleansing brush that was much more affordable and I was very excited to try it!  I had been looking for a good alternative for a while but was having a hard time finding one!

I received the Spin For Perfect Skin by Vanity Planet.  I got a kit that comes with the brush and four brush heads one for cleansing, one for exfoliating, one for the body and a pumice stone. I didn't try the pumice stone because I just don't use them, but I used all three of the other heads many times.

I mainly use this brush in two ways.  For my face at night I would take a facial cleansing wipe and remove a good amount of my make up.  Then I use the cleansing brush head (I really can't tell a difference between the cleansing brush head and exfoliating brush head once they were wet, they feel the same to me), I wet my face, put a gel cleanser on my face and then a apply the brush.  I usually apply it for a minute to two rinsing the brush head a few times to remove make up coming off on it.  Then my face is super clean, but also super dry!  I immediately apply a moisturizer so my skin doesn't get irritated for being so dry.  But then I know I have gotten all my make up off and  I'm good for bed!  But I should also mention I use this brush every other day, not everyday.  I had a friend tell me a few months back that her dermatologist had advised her not to use her cleansing brush on her face everyday because it's not good for her skin.  So I have been going with that too and I think it's been good for me.  My skin has not been irritated and I have not been breaking out (I don't break out often, but sometimes switching up your skin care you can).

The other way I used the spin brush was the body cleansing head on the shower.  Mid summer I did a lot of self tanning, so every time I applied self tanner I would exfoliate before hand and this brush was great for that.  After using normal body wash, I would apply a body scrub and then use the brush.  It's super easy to use and helps you work quickly (which you want in the shower).  The only time I would use another product is if I had a blotch from self tanner that I need to scrub out, the brush isn't really for harsh scrubbing so I would switch for a loofah for that. But it has been great and I will definitely keep using it when I exfoliate.

Here's what I thought of the spin brush:  I really liked it!  I felt like it gets my skin super clean and was very easy to use.  If you have been thinking of buying a cleansing brush but have been looking for one that is affordable, I would highly recommend this one.  But with that said, if you are already happy with your skin care routine and you feel like you can get your face really clean by other means, then it would probably not be worth it for you.  I personally sometimes felt at nights even after make up wipes and using a cleanser that my face still wasn't squeaky clean so this has really helped with that and I do feel it's a positive addition to my skin care routine.  And believe me, being a working mom, I only add things to my skin care routine if they are worth it to me!

If you are interested in this brush, I do have a coupon code the company has shared with me (I do not make anything off of you using this code, they just gave it to me to give out).  Click here for the site and coupon code beautysteals to get 70% off (awesome discount)!

So that's all my thoughts on this spin brush.  I hope this review was helpful, if you have any more questions, please feel free to ask me in the comments or on my other social media accounts!

Happy Savings Everyone!

DISCLAMER:  This review is not sponsored.  I did receive this spin brush for review, but I was not paid for this review and was not under any obligation to post a review or a favorable review for profit.

They are also having some deals on their store brand items.  Here is a link to those items (it's at the bottom on the page): click

That's all the Ulta Beauty Steals for this September!  I absolutely love these sales and this is when I to get a lot of my high end items because it's really rare to get up to 50% off on prestige brands!  If you do place an order (or 5, haha) online, don't forget to go through Ebates first, right now they are offering 3% back, but that could change any day!

Happy Savings Everyone!
