Product Empties #5

Welcome Beauty Bargains Hunters!

My empty product basket is still super full so it's time for another empties post!  If you have not read my other empties posts, here they are:  Empties #4, Empties #3, Empties #2 and Empties #1.  These are my favorites posts to read and You Tube videos to watch because I feel like when you use up a product, you can give a really thorough review.  There are a lot of times when I use a product just a few times I will have one opinion, but then after a few weeks of use I will find out something else that will completely change my mind about it.  Here are my latest products:

Clean & Clear Deep Action Cream Cleanser- When I use this product it brings me back to middle and high school!  I used just this for most of my teens years and I think this product is why I like to feel products working on my skin when I use them.  This cleanser gives you a cool and tingly feeling on your skin a few seconds after applying it and in my mind it makes me think it’s really working (don’t know if it really does, but that’s what I think).  I get this whenever I see it on sale and it is a good face wash for removing all your make up and making you face feel fresh and clean.  I will repurchase when I find another good deal.

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray- This is made by the same company as the Skindinavia setting spray so obviously I love this one just like I love that one.  I have found a drug store alternative that I have been loving (click here to see it).  But I am a big fan of how this one sprays on evenly and helps keep my makeup in place without feeling heavy on my skin so I would be open to repurchasing if I found a really good deal.

Shiseido Pureness Cleansing Sheets- I got these on clearance at TJ Maxx and I was excited to try a Shiseido product, especially for such a good price.  I did like these, but they were not amazing.  They were moist, just not as good as some others I have tried and they were a little on the small side compared to some others.  Two sheets would remove all my makeup and I did like the smell, so I would consider repurchasing if I found on clearance again, but I wouldn’t pay full price for them.

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara- I have a love hate relationship with this mascara!  When I first open it, it gives me great volume and length and it looks amazing with two or three coats.  A lot of times I will wear two mascaras at once, one for length and one more volume, but with this mascara I get both.  But my issue with this one is it dries out so quickly!  It has happened with the last two or three tubes that I have used so I know it’s not just one bad tube!  It lasts maybe about two months before it’s dry and hard to use.  If this was a drug store mascara I might not mind that, but I was higher standards for high end mascaras since you are paying more.  I expect them to last AT LEAST three months (sometimes I go over 3 months, I know I’m not supposed to!).  I have a few back up tubes but after I’m done those, I think I had to give up on this one!

Bath and Body Works Shower Gel in Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin- It was weird using this in spring, but I got it on clearance with an online order at the end of winter and I just got to use it. It did smell like a cinnamon and pumpkin cookie which I did enjoy.  I am a fan of BBW shower gels, but I don’t think they are any better than drug store body washes so I will only purchase when I have good sales and coupons that bring the price down to drug store range.

Paul Mitchell Worked Up Hair Spray- I liked this hair spray for days when I wanted to make my hair smooth and keep it gently in place.  This hair spray is not for strong hold and it didn’t make my hair stiff or crunchy.  It kept it in place, but I can still run my figures through it. I especially liked using it when I was having hair loss problems because I didn’t like to use anything harsh on my hair and this felt gentler than some other hair sprays I have used.  I may repurchase if I found it on sale or at TJ Maxx or Marshalls.

Yes to Tomatoes Facial Towelettes- I got these on clearance at Target a few weeks ago.  I am drawn to anything that says it will help with acne.  I did like these face wipes, they were large enough and fairly moist, but they were not as good as some others (click here for my favorite).  And unfortunately I did not see any improvement with my acne from using them.  I would repurchase if I found a good sale or on clearance again, but they are the holy grail enough for me to pay full price for them!

Purlisse Gentle Soy Milk Cleanser- I got this sample in an Ipsy bag. I did like this cleanser, I used it in the shower to remove my makeup.  It took off all my face makeup and my eye makeup with no irritation.  But the downside is the price, it’s $36 for the full size and I just normally don’t spend that much on a facial cleanser.  I would only consider buying this if I found a big discount on it.

Olay Oil Minimizing Toner-  This is one of my favorite toners.  I like the smell of it and it makes my face feel  fresh.  It also contains witch hazel which helps with acne.  I don’t know if it actually stops my face from getting oily later, but I normally apply it at night and I don’t feel oily until the end of the next day. I normally buy this when drug stores have sales and I have coupons.

Maybelline Dream Wonder Foundation- This is a product that I did not have a good first impression of but I began to like over time.  I am a full coverage makeup girl, so I was not a fan of using this foundation on its own because even if you apply two layers, I could only get medium coverage.  Also, just like the Dream Wonder powders, I feel like all the shades in this line have a pink undertone, and I have a yellow undertone.  But I began really liking this foundation when I mixed it with other foundations.  Most days I like to mix foundations to either get the perfect shade or finish.  I mixed this one with many different foundations and I liked all the combinations.  I’m considering repurchasing just to mix with other foundations.  But I would definitely recommend if you have a pink undertone and like medium coverage!

That's all for this time!  But stay tuned because there are plenty more items in the basket for my next post!

Cyber Monday/Black Friday Hauls

Welcome Beauty Bargain Hunters!

If you have been reading my blog or following me on Instagram you know that I did quite a bit of shopping on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I got a lot of household and clothing items for me and my family for the holidays, but I did get a good amount of beauty items too.  So here is all the beauty items I got from those sales.  I know a lot of these sales were only on Black Friday, but some things are still on sale not and most people got the Ulta 20% off coupon so you could always use that to get a discount on something you like and didn't pick up during the sale:

This first purchase was not technically Black Friday, this order was for the Ulta Cyber Fundays sale.  They had this a few days before Black Friday and it was online only:

Stila Eyes Are The Window Eye Shadow Palette (in Soul)- Regularly $49, on sale for $29
Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Exfoliating Facial Pads- Regularly $12.99, on sale (40% off)- $7.79
Z Palette Large Palette- Regularly $20, on sale (30% off)- $14
Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Serum- Regularly $14.00, on sale (40% off)- $8.99
Tarte Tartelette 2 In Bloom Amazonian Clay Palette- $45 (it was full price, but got Ulta triple points)
Online Only FREE 20-pc Berry Glam Beauty Bag with any $60 purchase- FREE
3 Free Samples

On Thanksgiving night I also went to my local Ulta.  I was torn between placing my order online or buying in store.  I decided to buy in store because I was afraid some of items I wanted would sell out online.  But I heard from my cousin that she placed an order online and nothing was sold out, so now I wish I had ordered online so I could have gotten the 8% back Ebates was offering then!  But I'm still happy with all the deals I got!  Here is what I got and how much I saved:

Real Techniques Bold Metals Essentials Set with Metallic Clutch- Regularly $69, on sale for $34.50
Murad Environmental Shield Brightening Set- Mini version $12
Ulta Secrets to Gorgeous Skin Set- Regularly $25, on sale for $14.99
Mario Badescu Holiday Essentials- $10
Benefit Cream Blush Majorette- Regularly $28, on sale for $10
Bare Minerals Be Regal & Radiant Kit- $10
Too Faced Christmas Miracle Set- $16

I also went to CVS on Black Friday during the day.  I got a lot of their sales where you spend a certain amount on a product and you get that exact amount back in CVS Extra Care Bucks.  They did not have as many of those deals as they had in past years, but they did have a few.  I'm not going to show the products with this haul because unfortunately none of them were beauty products (it was mostly candy, laundry detergent, dental care products, etc) .  Here is my tiny haul I did get from CVS of beauty products:

They had many brands, including Cover Girl, Buy 2 Get One Free.  Plus I had a $4 off 3 CoverGirl products coupon.  So I got all three of these for around $14 (plus I had extra care bucks).

2 CoverGirl Eyeshadow Quads in Go for the Gold & Notice Me Nudes
CoverGirl Clump Crusher Mascara

Since I did so much damage with the Sephora sales and on Black Friday, I took it easy on Cyber Monday.  In fact, I only made one beauty purchase.  That was from Anastasia Beverly Hills website.  They had a deal, a full size illuminator and illuminator brush (A23) for $26 (the illuminators retail by themselves for $28) plus free shipping.  I got it in the shade So Hollywood (and I kind of wish I had gotten another one too!)

That is everything I got from the sales.  Like I said, Ulta and Sephora were having a lot of sales right before Black Friday (I have another Ulta 20% off my order coupon burning a hole in my pocket right now!) so I took it easy this year.  But I think I still got a lot of great deals for me and some presents for friends and family.  I hope everyone got the deals they were looking for too!  And I hope everyone has a great holiday season too!

Beauty Gift Guide/ Wish List

Welcome Beauty Bargain Hunters!

Now that Black Friday and Cyber Monday are over, I can now focus on my favorite holiday of the year, Christmas!  Like a lot of people, this is my favorite holiday and it's my favorite part of the winter season!  I love decorating and making cookies and getting presents for my closest friends and family members!  Even though I do like to splurge on my nearest and dearest, I also like to make sure I get good deals on everything I buy.  But always the most important factor to me is that everything I buy for someone is something that they would really want and love.  Whether I spend $1 or $100, I want to see a look of excitement of everyone faces when they open my gifts.  Since I'm all about beauty on this blog, I thought I would mention the beauty items I am getting for a couple of my family members and friends who are beauty lovers or that I would get if I had more beauty lovers to buy for!  I've divided it in to two categories too to make it easier:

GROUP 1: Wears make up sometimes, but does not have to be a beauty junkie:

Tarte At First Blush Deluxe Amazonian Clay Blush Set- When all the tons of holiday sets were first coming out, this is the first item I really wanted.  I got this for myself during a recent Ulta haul and I immediately knew I picked the perfect piece from the collection for me! Not only are the colors just as beautiful and pigmented as all the other Amazonian Clay bushes, it's also an amazing deal!  One full size Tarte blush costs $28.  You get four mini ones for $35- and these are not teeny tiny ones, they are a good size for minis! Because they are a decent size and they are really pigmented, they will still last you a long time!

Too Face French Kisses Melted Set- Another set that is an amazing deal!  If you know someone that loves the Too Faced Melted lippies and pinks, this is perfect for them!  The full size of these are $21 and this set is $25 for four minis (again, the minis are still a decent size that will last a long time).

Too Face Melted Kisses & Sweet Cheeks- These sets broken up would make the perfect stocking stuffers or for little gift baskets!  Sometimes instead of one big gift, my girlfriends and I will make little gift baskets or stuff items in a jumbo coffee mug and these would work perfectly for those! One Melted lippie and one mini blush come in an individual box so they won't look incomplete if you brea them up.  The blushes are a bit tiny, but still wearable and cute for a stocking stuffer.

Too Face Better Than Sex Deluxe Ornament- I know this is not the most practical gift ever, but it's one of my favorite mascaras ever and they put it in an adorable ornament for the season so I had to include it!  If you know someone who loves this mascara or is looking for a new mascara, this would be perfect to put in their stocking, gift basket or right on their Christmas tree!

Urban Decay Revolution Lip Gloss Double Shot Travel Set- Another great stocking stuffer/gift basket item.  If you know someone who loves lip glosses, this would be a great little set.  I have one of these lip glosses (I actually have it in the shade Liar, which is in this set) and I love it.  And just like blushes, lip glosses can take a while to finish so these can last a while (at least long enough for the recipient to save up for the full size- Haha).

Soap & Glory The Birthday Box , Soaperwoman  and Winter Wonderhand Gift Sets- I'm a huge fan of the Soap & Glory brand and I was super excited that it's now at Ulta and a bit cheaper than when it was at Sephora.  Their Hand Food hand lotion (which is in the Winter Wonderland Set) is my favorite hand lotion of all time and even though it kills me to spend more than a couple of dollars on a hand cream, I can say this one is truly worth it and I will continue to repurchase as long as they make it, and I would LOVE if someone gave me any of these sets as a gift (mental note, have to make my husband read this post, hehe).

Benefits Party Poppers 12 Days of Gorgeous Set- I have tried almost all the products in this set and I can say I love about 75% of them.  I think this set would be perfect for lots of different people.  It could be for someone who is just getting into to make up and trying new things.  It could be for someone who hasn't tried Benefit products before, this would be a perfect sampling on them.  Or is someone you are buying for is a beauty junkie, they have probably tried some of these and loved them, so they will love to have more of them (perfect sizes for travel).

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Opal Glow on the Go- This is perfect for someone who loves highlighting or someone who has never used it before.  Becca is known for their highlighters, especially Opal.  This gives the receipent a liquid and powder version that they have can play around with and decide if they like them or if they are already into a highlighting, these are perfect to carry in their purse or travel.

Jack Black The Jack Pack- If you have a man in your life who is not into men's products but you are hoping he will try them, giving him this would be a perfect way to get him to try it.  They are all necessary type products, so he can use them and still be manly, but you will love the results!

Those are all the items that I think would be great gifts to give people whether they are a make up junkie or if they just wear it occasionally.  Now I'm going to mention a few bigger items that I would recommend you the beauty lover (and I know if you are reading this, you are a beauty product lover) should add to your wish list or give another beauty lover:

GROUP 2: Beauty Lovers:

Tartelette 2 in Bloom Amazonian Clay Palette-  This palette is really new, so if you give this to someone how is a beauty lover, they have probably heard of it, but your chances will be good they might not have purchased it yet.  This palette has matte shades and shimmer shades, so it's perfect for anyone who loves a neautral eye look (which is most people).

Real Techniques Bold Metals Essentials Set- I have loved Real Technique brushes for years and I have dying to try their metal brush line but I have been hesitant to pull the trigger and purchase any because they have a much higher price tag than their original brush line.  But they have been having sales on this kit, so I think this is perfect to give someone how loves makeup because it's brushes they will love, but it looks like a nice, fancy gift too!  It comes with an adorable clutch too!

Lorac Pro To Go Eye/Cheek Palette- This is perfect for travel!  A beauty lover could take this on vacation and have different eye and cheek look everyday.  I have taken this on my last two vacations and I barely had to take any other products.

Benefit Real Cheeky Party Holiday Blush Palette- I love all the Benefit blushes but sold separately in boxes they can get pricey.  Each holiday season they put all of them (usually with their highlighting products too) into a tin set.  It's a much better bargain and the tin is always so cute it makes an adorable gift.  Just a warning though, they some put with very similiar kits every year, so if you or your gift receiver already have last year's palette, it's really not worth buying again,.

Sephora Favorites Time to Prime Set- Basically any of the Sephora Favorites kits would make amazing gifts.  Unfortunately it looks like a lot of them are sold out on their website right now.  But really any you can get maybe in store or if they come back online (the Ultimate Hair Essentials kit looks great and is available right now online too) would make amazing gifts.  I have gotten a few in the past and I would love to get any of them as gift!

Studded X- I saw this on the Sephora website and thought it just looked so cool!  It's 3 mini Formula X nail polishes and matching Kat Von D studded mini lipsticks.  I have heard amazing stuff about the Formula X nail line and Kat Von D is an amazing brand (I have a bunch of her products, but not the lipsticks).  This would make the perfect gift for a beauty lover!

It Cosmetics Brushes- Ulta is offering two sets right now that are both good values since It Cosmetics brushes can be pricey.  The sets are Your Beautiful Basics Airbrush 101 5 Piece set and Your Airbrush Masters 6 Piece Advanced Brush Set.  It Cosmetics brushes feel amazing on the skin and blend products in beautifully.  I would put them in the category for people who are not as in to make up because they do have a starter it, but they are still a bit pricey so I would think they would be for someone who is more into make up.  But if you know someone who wants to start getting into make up more, this would be perfect starter brushes for them!

Well, I could probably keep picking out items forever!  So before this list gets crazy long and you are totally overwhelmed with options, I'm going to wrap it up!  But one last thing I'm going to mention is I hope you noticed something about all the products I mentioned- they are timeless and quality!  I tried to pick items that I truly thought were good products that you could use all year round.  I tried not to get blinded by the sparkle and prettiness of some of the holiday gift sets companies put out and really search for good quality, well priced items.  I already got tricked earlier in the season with a gimmicky holiday palette and I returned it because it seemed the company was more focused on the holiday packaging than the quality of the product.  I mentioned some holiday sets here, but they were ones that had the companies best products in them, not ones that they mass produced solely for the holiday season, I'm not saying that all holiday products/palettes are not good, I just think you have a better chance of getting someone a really great gift if you go with the most loved products.

I hope everyone has a great holiday season focused on love, family and yummy food!  :)

November Favorites

Welcome Beauty Bargain Hunters!

November has come and gone!  With Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday the past two weeks flew by!  I seriously didn't even know the month was over until I saw other people starting to post their November favorites!  I tried to keep my favorites simple again this month.  I do have more high end items than usual but that's because I just got big orders from Sephora and Ulta from their sales and of course I'm trying all my new stuff!  Here's what I loved this month:

Becca Highlighter in Opal- I just got this during the Sephora VIB sale (click here to see the whole haul).  I think I was the last person on the planet to get this highlighter (I had a mini size of the liquid highlight in Opal but that was it)!  This one was definitely worth all the hype I have heard about it!  This one gives my face a beautiful gold sheen.  This highlight is very noticeable on the cheeks, but still work appropriate as long as I go easy with application.

Tarte Amazoniam Clay Blushes in Ecstatic & Embellish- I got these in my recent Ulta haul (click here to see the whole order).  As soon as I saw this mini set at Ulta, I knew I had to have it!  Tarte blushes are pricey so to get 4 in this kit for a great price was awesome!  I liked all the colors in the set, but these two are my favorite.  They are both tanish pink shades that look really natural and have the same great quality that all the Tart Amazion Clay blushes have.  These are definitely going to be staples in my collection!

NYX Radiant Finish Powder- I like to swipe this powder on my undereye area after I have finished my face make up.  It brightens up my face and just makes me look a little more awake.  It's not like a highlighter that adds shine, this just adds a brightening effect.  It's hard to describe, but if you try it, you will like it!

Cover Girl Ready Set Gorgeous Powder Foundation-  I'm almost out of this powder and I will be so sad when it's gone!  This powder is perfect for setting your foundation.  It gives a tiny bit of coverage that can help your foundation and concealer blend together perfectly.  It also keeps my combination oily skin matte all day long (including my oily chin).

NYX Angel Veil Primer- Love this primer!  I was using some heavier face moisturizers this month and this primer worked perfectly with them (some other thicker primers I tried to use balled up during application, which I hate!).  It's a thin formula feels silky on the skin and provides a good base for foundation.  I also feel like it did help keep my make in place all day.

NARS Lipgloss in Chelsea Girls- As a beauty bargain hunter it was tough for me to buy such a pricey lip gloss but I literally got recommendations to get this lip gloss for years!  So finally with the Sephora VIB sale I broke down and bought it... and I'm so glad I did!  This might be my favorite lip gloss formula ever!  This gloss if very pigmented but still not thick on the lips and not sticky!  I seriously can't feel it on my lips at all.  I don't know when, but I will definitely be getting more of these glosses in the future!

Lorac Alter Ego Lip Gloss in Duchess- I got this lip gloss in the Ulta exclusive set in my recent Ulta haul.  I really like the formula of these glosses too.  It's not as good as the NARS one, but it is really nice.  It's not super sticky on the lips and not really thick either.  The shade is a little different for me (if you have read my blog before you know I'm a nude lip addict) but this is just a really nice light pink that does paid well with nude lipsticks.

L'Oreal True Match Crayon Concealer- I love this concealer so much this is actually my second one.  I love using this for blemishes or dark spots on my face.  This is crayon is so creamy, it blends on the skin so nicely.  I don't have to wait for it warm up on the skin like some other non-liquid concealers.  It also covers really well and is not greasy at all!  Highly recommend this one!

Hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving and November!  I hope everyone got all the Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals they were looking for!  We are on to December, one of my favorite months of the year! Can't wait for the holidays!
